In Charles de Gaulle’s view，France’s economy，military affairs and diplomacy should not be excessively attached to a certain country or a certain group，so as to better safeguard France’s national interests. Most of the subsequent French presidents continued Gaullism，and the current President Macron participated in Charles de Gaulle’s activities for several years in a high-profile manner，saying that he was a “Gaullist” in public.
