Abstract:The United States and Europe have been perceived as deteriorating international actors，contrasts with China as the new force under its all-powerful leader，Xi Jinping.The political and economic dominance of the US may no longer be evident，but it is debatable whether this has set the stage for a Chinese takeover，or whether the broader global liberal order itself is truly threatened.Whilst Chinese efforts to engage with the international community and to lead in an array of global concerns can only be viewed positively，this does not mean that Beijing and the West are competing normative powers.We are far from the end of history and it would be a mischaracterization to say that the established order is on the brink of collapse.
