Abstract:The global COVID-19 pandemic has had a complex impact on the economic development of ASEAN. The foreign economic cooperation of ASEAN countries has been divided，and the trend of regionalization within ASEAN is being strengthened. COVID-19 pandemic has affected the stability of the industrial chain，and ASEAN countries have strengthened production ties with major neighboring countries. In the context of the crisis，China and ASEAN countries cooperate and help each other. They have taken scientific and effective measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and actively restore the country’s economic production and social life. With the joint efforts of the governments，enterprises and people of both parties，the COVID-19 in this region has been effectively controlled，and the construction of “Belt and Road Initiative” has grown in the ASEAN region during the epidemic. As the bridgehead of the construction of “Belt and Road Initiative”，Shanghai is giving full play to its resource endowment in the process of communicating with ASEAN countries. After the COVID-19 pandemic，how to give full play to the role of existing mechanisms and promote high-quality development of “Belt and Road Initiative” is of vital importance to the development of bilateral economic and trade relations. In the face of new challenges brought by COVID-19，Shanghai will give full play to its advantages and play an irreplaceable role in the construction of “Belt and Road Initiative” in the ASEAN region.
