Abstract:In 2016，evidence of stagflation，worrisome public security，alongside with the frequent disputes inside the FA，imposed increasing pressure on the Vazquez administration. Economic trend of 2015 continued，with further declining growth and rising inflation. Though achievements in social development were significant，the security situation remained grim. With tax policy sparking controversy，protests and strikes were staged again. In terms of foreign affairs，Uruguay restored its relationship with Argentina. In October，president Vazquez visited China. Mercosur experienced a systemic crisis，and Uruguay was committed to the expansion of policy space for member states.
