2019年上海与中东欧地区打造更紧密的经贸关系

Abstract:As a transit hub connecting European and Asian markets，Central and Eastern Europe（CEE）has been playing a key role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative（BRI）. Since Greece joined the “16+1” mechanism which was then upgraded into “17+1”，cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries（CEECs）on jointly promoting the BRI has entered into a new stage，with numerous achievements on the five pillars of policy coordination，infrastructure connectivity，unimpeded trade，financial integration and people-to-people bond. Over the past few years，Shanghai has made unique contributions in the BRI development in CEE，showing its strengths in the fields of trade and finance，scientific and technological innovation as well as people-to-people exchanges. Particularly，closer trade and economic ties are witnessed while huge potentials for cooperation can still be tapped between Shanghai and CEE countries. In the future，Shanghai needs to seize the invaluable opportunities of implementing national strategies，namely the three new major tasks and one platform，as well as developing “Five Centers” and “Four Brands”，to enormously increase its urban functional level and core competitiveness and make itself a gateway of better serving the BRI development in CEE.
