Abstract:In recent years，the Bay of Bengal region has become the strategic intersection of China，the United States，India and other major powers. For various reasons，Australia has gradually shown its concern for the security and stability of this region. Among the concerns of Australia，there are not only the traditional security mechanism construction in the Bay of Bengal region brought about by the politic game between China，the United States，India and Japan，but also the non-traditional security issues caused by Australia’s special geographical position and the international environmental turmoil in the region. According to these security concerns，Australia began to actively seek international cooperation in extensive scope，including strategic coordination with the three other partners in QUAD，and constructive dialogue and functional cooperation with coastal nations in the Bay of Bengal region，and even start to explore cooperative possibility with other stakeholders outside the region （e.g.，France）. At present，Australia is steadily building its strategic presence in the Bay of Bengal region through a series of bilateral and multilateral cooperative institutional arrangements.
