Abstract:In terms of traditional security，the United States is still the main strategic actor in the Indian Ocean region and is actively developing relations with its traditional allies and new strategic partners. India is actively developing its own military forces，especially naval forces，in order to seek for a dominant role to a certain degree in the Indian Ocean. Countries like China，Japan，Australia，the United Kingdom，as well as France have also put their emphasis on the strategy of the Indian Ocean. In terms of non-traditional security，the Indian Ocean region are still facing severe terrorist threats. the piracy is now basically extinct in East Africa，but there is a rising trend in Southeast Asia. The security situation in the Indian Ocean region is generally stable and tends to develop well.
