Abstract:In 2019，Caribbean region as a whole maintained stability and have achieved several progress. In political respect，Dominica completed election successfully. Six countries will hold general elections in 2020，though the political situations are generally stable. On the economic front，regional economic growth rate is slowing down，public debt is shrinking across the board，inflation is falling in two consecutive years. Continued declines have been witnessed in the global rankings of ease of doing business. But international trade performed well on a number of aspects. When it comes to social situation，the Human Development Index of countries in this region tend to be high，but inequality is still prominent. The hidden risks brought by the influx of immigrants from Venezuela cannot be ignored. In terms of international relations，territorial disputes and the fight against drug-trafficking are key diplomatic issues，while China’s cooperative relations with Caribbean countries have made several positive progress.
