Abstract:In 2019，Dominican Republic decided its main presidential candidates，however it also caused internal divisions in the ruling party PLD，bringing uncertainties to local and presidential elections in the coming year. As a result，candidate from the opposition party PRM won the election and the PRM also became the majority party in the Congress. Economically，Dominican Republic remains to be one of the fastest growing economies in LAC. The fiscal deficit，foreign exchange reserves，exchange rate and inflation rate also remain stable. In social aspect，the Odebrecht bribery case has entered judicial process，and several politicians have been charged. Domestic dissatisfaction with government corruption has continued to rise. At the diplomatic level，disputes with Haiti on illegal immigration have intensified，and Venezuela citizens have been officially asked for a visa before entering.
