Abstract:Encouraging Southeast Asian Chinese youths to study in China has much important significance such as education，united front and diplomacy. A comparative analysis for more than 800 Chinese and non-Chinese youths in Southeast Asia shows that Southeast Asian Chinese youths have weak willingness to study abroad in China，and the quality of education and employment opportunities are the most important factors influencing their choice of study destinations. The degree of influence of scholarships is significantly different between individuals and countries，while the similarity of language and culture has a weak influence. In the future，there will be both opportunities and challenges for Southeast Asian Chinese youths to study in China. On the one hand，the Southeast Asia’s population structure and economic situation is good，combined with the increasingly attractive to study in China，have resulted in a considerable number of Chinese students who are willing to study in China. On the other hand，in recent years，southeast Asia’s Chinese education has encountered a bottleneck，the growth rate of overseas students in China has been flat，and the global competition for overseas students has intensified，which poses a great challenge for China to attract Chinese teenagers from the region to study in China. In the future，we can try to attract more Southeast Asian Chinese teenagers to study in China by focusing on improving the experience of studying，appropriately easing the threshold of employment and accurately releasing scholarships and grants.
