Abstract:In 2018,under the background of the impact of Australia’s domestic politics and international trade protectionism,China-Australia bilateral trade levels have steadily increased and reached record highs. In terms of trade in goods, mineral products, precious metals and products, and agricultural products continue to be the dominant areas for Australia’s exports to China. China’s exports to Australia are mainly concentrated in the categories of mechanical and electrical products, textiles, furniture and toys. In terms of trade in services,Australia’s exports of education and tourism to China continued to grow, but the growth rate declined. China’s service exports to Australia increased significantly over the same period. China keeps the position of Australia’s largest trading partner, largest source of imports, largest export destination, largest source of overseas students and largest source of tourism revenue. However,it is undeniable that bilateral economic cooperation between China and Australia is being interfered by more and more non-economic factors. Bilaterally, due to the influence of Australian domestic politics,Huawei and ZTE were banned from entering Australian 5G market, which greatly undermined bilateral political mutual trust and trade cooperation prospects. The prospects for China-Australia trade remain bright. Australia should carefully formulate its China policy, safeguard the fundamentals of mutual benefit and win-win situation between China and Australia, avoid the interference of non-economic factors on China-Australia economic and trade cooperation.
